Courses Offered
Ten month Professional Journalism Course. The course covers all the
print and audiovisual media.
Management of the Institute
MP founders believe in innovative, collective approach and constructive
feelings. Therefore it is founded by a media professional team of
qualified and committed academic professionals.
Admission Procedure
Competent students, who have passed IA or equivalent examination with
any subjects are qualified to apply for admission. Participants seeking
admission can get prospectus, forms and information sheets at its office
on the payment of NRs. 100/-.
It is essential for all participants to pass the concept test. Admission
will be granted strictly on merit basis. At the time of admission, the
participants are required to submit their attested photocopy of
marksheet & citizenship certificate along with two passport size
photographs.
Tuition & Fees
The following shall be charged at the time of registration &
admission for 10 month course:
- One time Admission / Practical Fees NRs. 800/-
- Refundable Library Deposit NRs. 500/-
(First Installment should be made NRs. 4500/- (i.e. Admission/Practical
Fees, Library Deposit and First four month fees). The institution will
not charge any fees if the course does not finish within 10 months.
- Rs 6000 /- for " Practical Course on Journalistic Writing
" (about four month)
Practical
Participants have been facilitated with the co-curricular activities
like Internal Seminar, Media Presentation and Field Reporting. These
activities will be fully managed by participants themselves, according
to guidance of Media Point.
Internship
All the trainee journalists should involve in two months internship
program in respected print and electronic media.
Examinations
There are three examinations i.e. First, Second Semester and Final
(Comprehensive) exams.
Performance Report
A performance report (marksheet) with 600 marks and separate certificate
of appreciation will be handed over to the participants after the
completion of all requirements made by the institution.
Visiting Lecturers
Well-known personalities from various media fields from country and
abroad will be invited as a guest lecturer in a regular basis.
Medium of instruction
Medium of instruction will be in Nepali and English language.
Participatory Approach
Traditional lecture method of teaching and learning will be minimized
and participatory approach is institutionalized.
Scholarship
Media Point has been providing scholarship regularly to the Department
of Information and Publicity, His Majesty's Government of Nepal, since
its inception. The Department will announce the scholarship through
advertisement every year. The working journalist from remote and
deprived communities who do not have obtained journalism course will be
eligible for that scholarship.
Library
Media Point Library provides the participants with a good collection of
journalism and mass communication and reference materials. In our
library, we also have different newsletters, magazines and periodicals
pertaining to various areas of human interest.
Attendance
The institute stresses regular attendance of participants. Regular
attendance is to be made in Daily Activity Report (DAR). The attendance
marks will also be included in final exam.
Educational Trips
Media Point activity features regular field trips in concerned media
houses. This intends to build up leadership qualities in its
participants.
