With the
restoration of multiparty democracy in 1990, there are positive
indications of the media moving in the right direction in Nepal.
However, the gap between people's expectations and performance of the
media in general, is still perceived to be wide. In order to address
this problem to some extent and help the media to meet people's growing
expectations, Media Point (MP), has come into existence in 1995. MP is a
professional institute. MP is a network of dedicated and experienced
media professionals. Specially, we at MP seek to realize the following
goals:
 Develop human resources in
media sector by imparting quality training.
Serve organisations, both
business and social, by helping them design and launch effective
promotional activities.
Assist the media and other
sectors by providing services like editing, translation, compiling press
clippings and so forth.

Services
MP is a network of experienced media professionals with basic
objective to assist people of all walks of like to develop a more
productive relation with the media industry of the country. To
accomplish the objective, the services provided by the institute can be
broadly classified into three different categories: Educational,
Promotional and Editorial.
Educational
with the rapid growth of the media industry in Nepal, the demand for
skilled and performing journalists is also growing. However, due to the
lack of proper professional education facilities in media sector, the
supply of well-trained journalist has not been able to keep up with the
demand. MP hopes to ease this shortage to some degree by organizing
training courses in Journalism. We also provide scholarships to young
aspiring journalists in order to attend these courses.
Editorial
An important part of the services provided by MP is its editorial
services. Experienced groups of editors with us can help in polishing
documents and manuscripts before publication. The editorial service may
be sought for publication of the books, newsletters, brochures, journals
or souvenir, both Nepali and English.
Moreover, the MP also provides help in the following areas:-
Media Research: In addition, MP also
conducts research/surveys for assessing the campaigns organized. This
will ensure the effectiveness of the endeavourer undertaken by various
national and foreign organizations.
Translation: Translate documents of
any length to and from any of the following languages : Nepali, English,
Hindi, Newari.
Press Clipping: Collect news and
articles on any given topic published in a wide range of print media and
compile them for easy reference.
